Mission

The mission of this website is to be a place where teachers can come for information on (but not limited to):

  • current information on No Child Left Behind
  • what's going on with Calfornia politics as regards the budget
  • educational ideas that are working
  • the affective domain, i.e., the "right-brain" creative/artistic/emotive part
  • what educators can do to work together
  • positive quotes and stories that inspire educators
  • ways to bring teachers, administrators, school boards together
  • keeping in touch with the budgets
  • what other states are doing
  • a devil's advocate position?

Education is under incredible duress at this time. As a matter of FACT, as important as public, parochial, and private education is and has been it seems like we are always an "after-thought".

No one will deny that schools serve many purposes. Besides preparing our young academically, we are also the child's home away from home, providing an opportunity for play, growth and maturation, development of a social network, experience in handling life's conundrums, and later, where they learn valuable skills essential to becoming a successful adult.

Teachersthatcare.com is going to be both an "evolutionary" and revolutionary site! You will find links to magazines and other websites which will hopefully, prove useful to you; magazines that deal with the issues of the day; hints to a happier classroom. In fact anything that can provide you with ideas, drop your stress levels, and generally be in harmony with your life.

Bear with us because there will be trial-and-error but remember: evil can only occur when good people stand by and do nothing (Burke)...and teachers are "good people" so we CANNOT stand by.

We will also feature a blog that allows you to say what you want to say: submit your thoughts, tell it like you see it, and exchange viewpoints and perceptions with fellow educators.

One of the goals will be to help each of us coalesce into a dynamic group thus forming a "tipping point" that says WE ARE TEACHERS and WE CARE! And that care is not only about the children that we have pledged to teach, but also ourselves, because without us what would happen?

I know everyone is overwhelmed with life and every time we turn around there is another duty or meeting or form that has to be completed. Yet I beg of you: consider your life and try to stay tuned to what is happening, and hopefully, this site will keep it simple and be accessible for you to drop by as often as you can.

Remember: there will always be dysfunctional families and jobs but we can only do something about our "dysfunctional attitudes".

Happy Teaching.
